Jianping Mei, has been a professor of finance at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business since 2006. He was an assistant professor from 1990 to 1995 at New York University, and an associate professor of finance at the same university from 1996 to 2005. From 2003 to 2008, he was a special term professor at Tsinghua University. He has published over 30 books and scholarly articles on topics related to finance. Mr. Mei received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Fudan University in 1982, a master’s degree in economics and a doctorate in economics (finance) from Princeton University in 1988 and 1990, respectively. He was appointed as an independent non-executive director of Powerlong and MIE Holdings Corporation. He co-developed the Sotheby’s Mei and Moses Art Indices with Prof. Michael Moses.

Michal Moses retired from the Stern school of business in 2006 after a thirty-year career teaching corporate strategy and operation management. During that time, he also served as associate dean of the undergraduate college and chairman of the operation management department. Before joining NYU he taught at the Wharton School for five years. He received his maters and doctorate degree from Northwestern University and bachelor’s degree from Worcester polytechnic institute. His publications have appeared in leading economics, finance and management science journals. He has also been a lifelong lover of art and antiques on which he has also published articles in Antiques Magazine and the book Mater Craftsman of Newport.

Professor Mei and Moses have been working together for the past 25 years studying the art market and its financial returns and comparing art with other asset classes. Their research has been quoted in hundreds of media stories.
